EMF ENDEAVOURS

EMF ENDEAVOURS is the umbrella company for EM RECORDS and EM PUBLISHING; and is itself the commercial arm of THE ENGLISH MUSIC FESTIVAL.

EM RECORDS is the recording arm of the English Music Festival and, as such, fulfils the EMF’s aims of celebrating and preserving overlooked works by British composers throughout the centuries, with a strong focus on the early twentieth century: the Golden Renaissance of English music. EM Records resolves to bring this glorious music to a world-wide audience by committing to recorded format some of the treasures that the EMF unearths, giving listeners the chance to experience the fullest possible range of the Festival’s work. In keeping with the unique spirit of the Festival, each disc released by EM Records contains at least one World Première recording.

The label’s mission is to ensure that no English works worthy of hearing are ever again left unavailable to listeners. It represents a ground-breaking enterprise, presenting repertoire that, though previously unrecorded, is vital, vivid and powerful; and, through its commitment to this endeavour, complements the pioneering work of a leading and internationally-acclaimed Festival. Music lovers are invited to become directly involved in the continuing success of this enterprising label by becoming Foundation subscribers or by subscribing to individual releases.

EM PUBLISHING is the publishing arm of the internationally successful English Music Festival and sister arm to the groundbreaking and celebrated recording label EM Records. Its aim, like that of EM Records, is to make previously unavailable scores and books accessible to all; and, in particular, to facilitate the performance of, or to further research about, English music. All EM Publishing products are prepared to the highest degree of scholarship and take into account the latest musicological developments and researches. But, alongside these exceptional books and scores, with their critical stance and rigorous treatment, you will find some lighter-toned products – for instance, our beautiful and striking Musical Map, which depicts the names of British composers and musicians in locations strongly associated with them. You can also join in the heights of sartorial elegance with the EMF tie or scarf, which so grace lovers of English music at numerous musical events!

LATEST NEWS

We are delighted to be back in London for another Autumn English Music Festival concert on 12 October, this time at the Church of St John the Evangelist in Notting Hill. We very much hope you will join us at this lovely event, which features the Tailleferre Ensemble with the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Madeleine Dring, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Malcolm Arnold and others, and with a work by Cecilia McDowall in an arrangement made specially for this recital. The full programme can be seen here; and tickets are available through our online Box Office.

This year was the first year we have held The English Music Festival entirely in Dorchester-on-Thames, and this was only possible because of the support and encouragement of all those at Dorchester Abbey and at Dorchester Village Hall, as well as of the local community: our heartfelt thanks to you all for your help before and during the Festival, and for welcoming us so warmly. Sincere thanks, too, to the artists, for the energy and commitment of their performances; to all the volunteers who assisted with general administration, staffing the Box Office, stage-managing and stewarding, and without whose help running the Festival would simply not be possible; and, of course, to our audiences, whose enthusiasm and financial and moral support all continue to mean so much to us.

We have recently introduced a new tier to our Friends’ Scheme for Corporate Friends — so, if you own, or help to run, a company or a similar organisation, and would like to enjoy the special benefits that this tier offers, please do consider joining at this level. For more details about our Friends’ Scheme, please follow this link for a description of the tiers and their benefits, together with information about how to join.
