FIRST JOHANNESBURG EMF
LATEST NEWS

Booking for the 2020 Oxfordshire EMF is now open to all. As usual, we are offering a 10% discount on concert ticket and Pass prices to local residents; and, once again, we are collaborating with The White Hart Hotel in Dorchester-on-Thames to bring audience members EMF pre-concert dinners. Please visit our online Box Office to book your tickets.

Thank you to all who made the 2020 Johannesburg EMF such a success: to those at Brenthurst Gardens, Glenshiel and St George’s Church for their warm hospitality and invaluable help; to the artists, for their outstanding performances of some wonderful music; to the volunteers who staffed the Box Office, undertook Front-of-House duties, and served refreshments; and, of course, to the audience members for supporting the weekend’s events.

We are currently in discussion regarding possibilities for the 2021 Johannesburg EMF. If you would like to support us and help make this a reality, please do consider joining the South African EMF Friends’ Scheme. Your contribution will be most warmly appreciated. If you would like to be kept informed of the Festival’s return to South Africa, please email the Festival Director, Em Marshall-Luck, at em.marshall-luck@englishmusicfestival.org.uk to be added to our Johannesburg EMF mailing list.

We are delighted to announce that the programme for the 2020 Oxfordshire EMF is now published, with important world premières of works by composers including Elgar and Delius; Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s superb (and too-rarely-performed) Violin Concerto; large-scale choral concerts; intimate chamber recitals; and late-night piano and dance-band music. Please visit this page for full details!

If you would like more details about our Friends’ Scheme, please follow this link to our newly reinstated ‘Friends’ Scheme’ page for a description of the tiers and their benefits, together with information about how to join.

Our recording arm, EM Records, has released a number of exciting new recordings, including a triple-disc set of Parry’s complete works for violin and piano and a disc of searingly beautiful choral works by Paul Carr and others. Please visit the EM Records website for full details of these and others!
