2020 FESTIVAL

Thank you to all who made the 2020 Johannesburg EMF such a success: to those at Brenthurst Gardens, Glenshiel and St George’s Church for their warm hospitality and invaluable help; to the artists, for their outstanding performances of some wonderful music; to the volunteers who staffed the Box Office, undertook Front-of-House duties, and served refreshments; and, of course, to the audience members for supporting the weekend’s events.

We are currently in discussion regarding possibilities for the 2021 Johannesburg EMF. If you would like to support us and help make this a reality, please do consider joining the South African Friends’ Scheme. Your contribution will be most warmly appreciated.

In the meantime, if you would like to be kept informed of the Festival’s return to South Africa, please email the Festival Director, Em Marshall-Luck, at em.marshall-luck@englishmusicfestival.org.uk to be added to our Johannesburg EMF mailing list.

LATEST NEWS

Thank you to all who made the Autumn Festival in Horsham such a success: to the artists, for their wonderfully committed, moving and enjoyable performances; to all those volunteers who helped before and during the Festival; and, of course, to all those at St Mary’s Church for their generosity in opening their beautiful building to us and thereby providing the EMF with such a marvellous venue in which to hold our first live concerts since March.

All the Autumn EMF concerts were filmed and will be available to view on this website shortly. We will be making a modest charge for access – this is to cover the costs of production and also to enable us to pay a royalty to the performers, thereby helping to increase their income during what remains a very difficult time for music and musicians. More details will be available soon.

COVID-19-related restrictions permitting, we are hoping to be able to hold a pre-Christmas Festival and are considering how best this might be accomplished. Please do visit the EMF website regularly for updates on this and other events.

If you would like more details about our Friends’ Scheme, please follow this link to our ‘Friends’ Scheme’ page for a description of the tiers and their benefits, together with information about how to join.

Our recording arm, EM Records, has released a number of exciting new recordings, including a triple-disc set of Parry’s complete works for violin and piano and a disc of searingly beautiful choral works by Paul Carr and others. Please visit the EM Records website for full details of these and others!
